A photographic story of the Brahma Kumaris

By Barbara Bossert Ramsay

The story follows the life of Dada Lekhraj Kripalani, an ordinary man, changed forever by insistent and compelling mystical experiences. Known later as Brahma Baba, there gathered around him a group of young women and children who wanted to listen, who wanted to take the spiritual journey with him. Many had visions when they meditated with him and they felt strong, loved and divine, like never before. ONE is the story of these youngsters, mostly girls and women, who became the spiritual leaders of this movement, something unheard of and revolutionary in the India of those times. ONE follows the journey of Brahma Baba and his community, known then only as Raja Yogis, through the social and political uprising of Partition and their move from Pakistan to India. Here they settled. After their years of cloistered living, the young adults ventured into the world to teach the meditation and spiritual knowledge they had been learning for almost 20 years.

A beautifully illustrated book that offers a pathway into the heart of what being a Raja Yogi is all about, of what it means to be a "BK". ONE is the essence of the journey.

Barbara Bossert Ramsay has written extensively for theatre, film and television. The author of four published books she had a newspaper column that was syndicated for almost a decade in major Australian newspapers. The study of Raja Yoga meditation has been taking her to India since 1986 and has been her "doorway to the divine". As Barbara says, “expressing my spiritual journey in my writing, this is when I feel that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.”
