Meditations on Acoustic Piano
by BK Denisy
This album presents ten beautifully crafted acoustic piano meditations by Denisy, inspired by the devotional songs of Brahma Kumaris composers. Drawing from a rich spiritual repertoire, the collection includes three classic Hindi BK songs, four works by Ken O’Donnell, and compositions by Tim Collins. Through sensitive paraphrasing and imaginative arrangement, Denisy transforms these beloved melodies into a deeply contemplative instrumental experience. Her interpretations retain the essence of the original songs while offering a fresh, expressive musical language. The result is a luminous and immersive listening journey—bringing a sense of newness and quiet discovery to these cherished devotional pieces, and inviting the listener into a space of peace, reflection, and inner connection.
"At the age of five, I started piano lessons, which had to be interrupted when I was 17 because I went to university to study medicine. However, I never stopped playing. I performed professionally at restaurants and other festive occasions, and I still do. It is something I truly love.
I was introduced to the Brahma Kumaris in 2008 in Brazil. It took me some time to become deeply engaged in BK Raja Yoga meditation; however, it has been something that has truly changed my life. I divide my time between Brazil and Australia, spending half the year in each country. Fortunately, there are BK centres in both countries, which makes my spiritual progress easier. I feel very fortunate.
When Tim Collins asked me if I would like to record a piano album, I didn’t think twice before saying yes. Now that everything is complete, I look back and realise how smoothly and calmly the whole process unfolded. During this time, I experienced the validation of some profound spiritual teachings. One of them is that when the intention is elevated, everything becomes easy. Even though this album developed differently from our initial plan, I feel it is even better than what we had originally envisioned. This shows how life unfolds perfectly and reminds us to have faith.
The recording process itself was peaceful, and I experienced God's light while playing. I felt happy to be an instrument in creating this acoustic piano version of some beloved spiritual songs. This has been a way for me to express my deep gratitude for the wonderful gift God has given me.
I feel very grateful to the Creative Spirit Initiative for providing the funds that made this experience possible. My special thanks go to Brother Tim, who supported, encouraged, and guided me in everything needed to bring this to life."
